About

Why Revision Companion exists

An independent revision app, made by someone working through the same qualification, for everyone fitting it in around a busy life.

For almost a decade I worked in health and social care, managing care teams and overseeing care packages for people from all walks of life: from elderly clients needing basic support and a little company, to severely disabled clients requiring 24/7 clinical care. It taught me how much insight, diligence and honest conversations matter when someone is relying on you. When I decided to move into mortgage advice, those were exactly the things that drew me to it.

Then I discovered that CeMAP was the first step, and found that revising for it was harder than it needed to be. Here is what I ran into:

  • Scarce resources
  • Courses costing close to £1,000
  • Cheap alternatives that were not up to the job
  • A lack of clear guidance on the qualification and the exam structure
  • Few resources written by people who had sat the exams themselves

The content is dense, the regulation is detailed, and the exam asks you to apply what you know to a customer’s situation, against a clock. I wanted a way to practise exactly that. I wanted to enable other people like me to study whenever they want, not only at a desk at home in a perfect setting – because, let’s be real, who of us can say they get that every day? I wanted something I could do on my lunch break, on my commute, or in the ten-minute gaps between work and everything else.

I wanted practice that felt like the real exam, and explanations that taught me something: not just empty knowledge, but the skills to apply it and pass an exam that is not the easiest thing to do. And let’s not lie to ourselves, some of it is plain boring, need-to-know material.

I wanted practice that felt like the real exam, and explanations that taught me something.

So I built it.

Revision Companion began as a tool for my own revision: questions in the style of the exam, explanations that say why, flashcards for the facts that would not stick, and one-page guides for the night before. I am now sharing it with other people sitting the same exams, so that you can have what I, and many before me, lacked.

Everything in it is written in my own words from the official study texts. It is independent of LIBF, and it cannot promise you a pass. What it can do is give you honest, well-explained practice and make it easier to keep going.

Made for CeMAP students and aspiring mortgage advisers, by a fellow CeMAP student who is fortunate enough to be in a position to help others.

What we believe

Four principles behind the app

Independent and honest

Revision Companion is not made by, approved by or connected to LIBF, and it will never promise you a pass. It promises good practice and clear explanations.

Accuracy first

Every question is written in my own words from the official study texts. If something looks wrong, there is a Report a problem link at the bottom of the app.

Respectful of your time

Short sessions, no padding and nothing that nags. Most people revise around work, family and everything else, and the app is built for that.

Fair and simple

One payment, no subscription, no adverts. Try the free version first and only pay if it is helping.

Our promises

What Revision Companion will never do

Short list, and a firm one.

  • Promise you will pass
  • Claim LIBF endorses or approves it
  • Sell your information or show you adverts
  • Lock the price behind a subscription

Ready when you are

Come and see what you think.

Try the free version, then tell me what works and what does not. Honest feedback is the most useful thing anyone can give.
